Derek Meyer




Shona O'curry

Derek is a very experienced teacher from Ohio, U.S. and got his TESOL certificate in 2009.He was an officer of Global Education in Kent State University that conducted international student recruitment research project and evaluated their transcripts and credentials. In 2009, Derek began to teach English in China, so he has an overall understanding of Chinese students' learning styles and characteristics. 

Shona earned her Master of International Education from the University of Nottingham, UK. She has taught English at international schools in Central America and the Middle East, and has extensive experience. Shona is good at communication. She can help and guide students to find learning interests based on the characteristics of different students. In addition, Shona loves travelling and charity, which she combined by volunteering in Brasil and France. She also has a successful travel blog where she talks about her adventures.


Brian Johnson


Ryan Dallman

Brian graduated from the University of oregon, completing significant coursework in mathematics at the graduate level. During his professional career, Brian has earned several teaching certifications and has taught in Shanghai, Europe, and the U.S.A. As a senior test prep instructor with New Horizons, he brings a drive and passion for helping students maximize their potential! 

Erin is an experienced English teacher, after finishing her BA (English writing), she received a Master's degree in Comparative Literature and a professional Certificate in Translation (German and French into English) from the "Ivy" Binghamton University. After graduation, she worked in educational publishing for many years. A career change to teaching English brought her back to Asiaand she teaches English skills at all levels, literatureand test prep. Her teaching style is rigorous but funny, and she is very popular among students. In her spare time, she travels, practices photography, and helps every stray animal she can.


Daniel Feininger


Danielle LeClerc

Daniel is an experienced teacher from the United States with a bachelor's degree in international relations and a master's degree from Pennsylvania State University. He is particularly good at analysis, writing and has won numerous awards. He has taught English and history in the the Middle East and Central America for many years as an English teacher. Daniel is committed to motivating students to learn in a positive and energetic learning environment, and is good at teaching students according to their aptitude.

An outstanding graduate from the University of Alberta, Danielle completed a significant amount of coursework in biology and chemistry including courses in analytical chemistry, biochemistry, and genetics. Danielle is an experienced teacher and has worked for over 12 years in education. Before coming to New Horizons in 2011, she taught in both public and international schools in Shanghai. Her biology and chemistry classes are widely praised by parents and students. In addition, she is a skilled writer who has published many short stories and travelogues in Shanghai and internationally.

Adam Belcher


Erica Switzer

 Adam studied English Literature and Philosophy at  

the University of Greenwich in South London,

 then earned his Comparative Literature

 from Goldsmiths, University of London,

 a world-renowned liberal arts college. 

Since coming to China, Adam has taught

 in universities across the country. At Hengshui 

University, Adam taught Western film and spoken 

English. In Wuxi, Adam taught TOEFL and ESL. 

Adam then spent two years teaching at Gengdan College,

 Beijing University of Technology. 

He taught writing for academic purposes,

 intercultural communication, and Western culture. 

He has recently relocated to Shanghai and

 currently teaches language arts. 

 Erica Switzer holds a BA in English with concentration in Creative Writing from Lake Forest College, 

a famous private liberal arts college in Illinois, and an MA in English Literature from DePaul University, 

one of the top private universities across the U.S. She began her teaching career at a Chicago-area 

Upward Bound program where she worked for more than two years. During this period, 

she taught English Language Arts courses to high school students and advised them on 

academics and college application writing tasks. As a teacher, Erica is committed to 

fostering student success in a positive and engaging learning environment.
